These words, inscribed by the original builder, on the fire place of the Manor House Living Room, describe the way we feel about this ministry today; a place of rest and renewal.
Our Mission
It is the objective of the High Braes Refuge for each camper and guest to hear and respond to the message of salvation available only through Jesus Christ, and to experience Christian growth through Bible Study, teaching, and fellowship.
Our desire is for all campers and guests:
To help each person recognize their value and purpose in God’s eyes
To foster authentic Christian fellowship and connection
To encourage a deeper appreciation of God through His creation
Our History
In 1973, Ron and Lorraine Hodge envisioned a place where people could come to rest, hear the message of the Gospel of Christ, grow in that faith, find fellowship with others, and enjoy God's creation. God's providential hand made the way through a piece of property located in Upstate New York near the village of Redfield.
Every retreat center has its strong point. The Braes is best suited for church leaders who want to get their group away from distractions, to spend time together, and to spend time with God. The strength of the Braes is in its quiet, private location. The Braes is more than food and accommodations, we see it as our ministry.
The Braes is small and personal, and our staff is ready to make you feel at home. If you are looking for a retreat location where you can get away from it all, the Braes has something for every group.

We specialize in small, intentional groups (typically under 24 guests) to maximize connection and impact.
Securing a Reservation
Once your retreat details are finalized, we’ll send you an agreement outlining everything discussed. Your reservation is confirmed once we receive your signed agreement and a $350 deposit. You can return the agreement by mail, email, or fax - whichever is easiest. Deposits can also be made online.
